Support Worker - Day Centre - West London

Job Description

We are looking for a strong minded, confident, open minded support worker who can work within a day centre for Learning Disabilities. You will need to be able to follow instructions as well as using your own initiative to provide the best person centred care available to help the service user live an independent and fulfilling life.The role itself will be within Westminster and you will need to have vast knowledge and experience within learning disabilities to be able to tackle challenging behaviour as well as being happy to assist with wheelchair users i.e pushing, helping out of the wheelchairs etc

Your role as a Support Worker will be to provide care on a day to day basis, which includes personal care as well motivating them and encouraging independence. You should be physically fit due to the need for safe moving & handling of residents, occasionally using equipment to assist you (e.g. hoists or wheelchairs) and you should therefore have up to date Moving & Handling training and experience of using hoists and wheelchairs.

You will have a good knowledge of safeguarding and will understand the importance of maintaining appropriate boundaries and keeping up to date and detailed observation notes and updating of care plans. An intermediate level of computer literacy is required to support this.

Shift Patterns
-9am - 4pm

You will need:
-An up to date valid DBS otherwise you will need to apply for a new one with us
-Valid Right to work in the UK - i.e. Passport/visa
-6 months experience within care
