Graduate Project Management Officer

Job Description

My client, a local authority in west London, is looking for a number of Graduate Project Management Officers to provide project support to one or several projects. Children Services has several exciting project and initiatives to improve how support is provided to children, families and schools across the Borough. You will be working closely with colleagues across the department to help plan, administer and mobilise projects and initiatives.

They are looking for energetic and flexible people, with initiative and good organisational skills. You will also need to be comfortable with numbers and data as well as having good written, analytical and communication skills. Your background and experience is less important; you could be a recent graduate looking to develop your career in Local Government and Children's Services, or perhaps someone returning to the workplace and interested in this important work with Children, Families and Schools.

The key responsibilities of the project officer role are as follows:

* Provides support to project management activities.
* Administers logistics, including arranging security access, on-boarding, appropriating desks, ensuring connectivity, booking meeting rooms and monitoring project team holiday and availability.
* Take minutes of meetings and ensure all decision are appropriately recorded and actioned
* Monitors project scope against baseline.
* Maintains the project plan, including the overall timeline, milestones and dependencies.
* Manages the project's risks, issues and assumptions logs.
* Administers project issues and ensures that they are, ultimately, resolved.
* Provides consistent and accurate progress, risks and issues reporting to project management.

Candidate qualities:
* Degree or equivalent
* Project management qualifications (e.g. Prince2, APMP)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of how a Council works and its administrative processes.
* Well organised with the aptitude and ability to support project planning with an understanding of the concepts of scope, risks, issues and assumptions.
* Experience of using Microsoft Office Packages.
* Good time management and organisation skills.
