Job Description

Specific Purpose of current role
- To ensure the promotion and delivery of a high quality programme of training for early years practitioners across the council with a focus on meeting statutory requirements and raising quality. - - Negotiating with trainers about their availability and rate of pay for their service to ensure value for money
- Sourcing, visiting and negotiating the price for training venues, liaising with facilities managements, caterers and other suppliers to ensure value for money
- Providing administrative support for courses and conferences and delegate to an apprentice when appropriate
- Leading on the publication and advertising of training programmes and providing information on request
- Managing the raising of Purchase Orders for suppliers
- Noting and distributing minutes of meetings held with trainers, partners and organisations
- Managing and coordinating the central training programme including organising an Early Years annual conference with the Manager.
- Supporting the Manager to develop and establish a programme of continuous quality review across the Early Help service
- Being proactive and innovative in creating workforce development opportunities, writing bids and securing external funding
- Working jointly with colleagues in the Quality Improvement teams to support the Manager to co-ordinate work to drive up and monitor quality of the service
- Visiting organisations (including early years settings) to assist the quality assurance and commissioning process
- Managing and analysing course feedback to inform future provision and ensure high standards are maintained

Key Skills and experience required
- Successful experience of coordinating and evaluating training
- Experience of childcare and/ or education
- Experience of working in a business support capacity
- Experience of effectively organising own workload and of adapting to changing priorities and deadlines
- Experience of developing and implementing record keeping systems, new processes and procedures
- Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information
- Experience of raising purchase orders and invoices, managing budgets, monitoring expenditure and producing reports
- Experience of working in partnership with other departments and external providers
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with senior officers and elected members, community groups and the public generally
